Sand removal: Officials warn strict action against violators

Udupi, Nov 13, 2021: Mines and Geology department has warned strict action against those involved in illegal sand mining and unauthorized transportation and collection of sand.

Permission has been granted to remove sand from areas coming under CRZ in Varahi, Sauparnika, Swarna, and Seetha Rivers and also Non-CRZ areas. The sand available cannot be transported outside the district.

Building owners and contractors should get transport permits from the Permit holders who have obtained the mining contract and temporary permit.

Senior Geologist and District Sand Monitoring Committee member secretary had warned strict action against those who are involved in unauthorized sand mining and those who collect or transport sand illegally.
The boats and other assets will be seized, he warned.
