CFI stages protest for Govt Medical College in DK
Mangaluru, July 29, 2021: Demanding the government to set up a medical college in Dakshina Kannada, the Campus Front of India (CFI) staged a protest in front of Mini Vidhana Saudha today.
The protest was held as part of the campaign by CFI for a government medical college in the district.
“This is the demand of the people in the district. The MP and MLAs of Dakshina Kannada have shown negligence in getting a medical college. Every organization should join hands to make this movement a success,” DK district Muslim Okkuta president and former Mayor K Ashraf said.
CFI state treasurer Savad Kallarpe who spoke on the occasion expressed anger over the failure of elected representatives.
“Though the district has 1 MP, 2 state Ministers, 1 Union Minister, 7 MLCs, and 8 MLAs, they have failed to get a medical hospital to the district. This is a great injustice to the people of Dakshina Kannada,” he alleged.
Campus Front state president Athavulla Punjalkatte declared to hold a massive protest in the coming days if the government failed to fulfill the demand.
Prof Pattabhirama Somayaji who spoke on the occasion opposed privatization in the education and health sector.
“There is a need for a government medical hospital in Dakshina Kannada and this movement is necessary,” he added.
Writer and activist Ismath Fajir, Mangaluru District president Inayat Ali, Secretary Muneer Bajal, CFI DK district president Siraj Surathkal, District leaders Sarfuddin Bajpe, Ansar Puttur, Yasin Belthangady, Fayaz Vittal, and others were present.
