Campus Front demands Govt Medical College in Dakshina Kannada
Mangaluru, June 12, 2021: Demanding the state government to set up a Medical College in Dakshina Kannada, the Campus Front of India (CFI) submitted a memorandum through the Deputy Commissioner today.
CFI Mangaluru City Vice president Ihtisham, District Secretary Maneer, and member Hafeez met Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V and handed over the memorandum to him.
In a press statement the CFI leaders said that though Dakshina Kannada is famous for healthcare, the dream of many students of obtaining medical education has remained unfulfilled due to the absence of a government medical college.
“Almost all the famous medical colleges are run by Corporates. There is neither a government-run multi-specialty nor a government medical college in the district. The seats in private colleges are filled before the admission begins because the seats are purchased by agents and sold for a huge amount. Therefore there is a need for a government medical college,” the CFI leaders alleged.
