Karwar, June 02, 2021: Tauktae has resulted in damage amounting to ₹ 104.88 crores in the Uttara Kannada district.

After collecting the details from all the departments, the Uttara Kannada district administration has now prepared a detailed report on the estimated loss due to Tauktae.

According to the report, 22 villages in 12 taluks were affected. Eight relief centers were opened. Two people lost their life (one each in Bhatkal and Kumta). Water entered about 54 houses.

As many as 6 houses were fully damaged (estimated loss of 2.4 lakh), 26 severely damaged (est loss 44.35 lakh), and 122 partially (est loss 38.06 lakh).

Horticulture crops were severely hit by the rain. The crops in 164.58 hectares were destroyed.
