Karnataka receives 16th O2 Express with 120 tonnes LMO
Indian Railways that is at the forefront of delivering liquid medical oxygen (LMO) to states across India continued the same in delivering the 15th Oxygen Express to Karnataka. This special train reached Inland Container Depot (ICD), Whitefield, at Bengaluru at 10.35pm on May 27.
It had started from Tatanagar, Jharkhand at 6.25pm on May 26. Zonal railway authorities set up a special ‘Green Corridor’ for this train that carried 120 tonnes of liquid medical oxygen in six cryogenic containers.
So far, Karnataka has received 1772.8 tonnes of LMO by rail. Indian Railways has so far operated 284 oxygen expresses and transported more than 18,980 tonnes of LMO in 1141 tankers to all over India to assist the state governments in their fight against Covid19. Karnataka in fact had received the 13th and 14th ‘O2 Specials’ on May 26 to go with two that authorities of Bengaluru division of Hubballi headquartered South Western Railway received at the ICD a day before.
