Udupi, April 21, 2021: Sixteen-year-old Aniruddha Saralatthaya will be anointed as the new peetadhipathi of Shirooru Matha.

This was declared by Sri Vishwavallabha Tirtha Sripadaru of Sri Sode Vadiraja Matha today.

The ceremony will be held at Sri Sode Moola Matha in Sirsi on May 14 between 12.35 pm and 12.50 pm.

Shirooru Matha is one of the Asta (eight) Mathas of Udupi. After the sudden demise of Sri Lakshmivara Tirtha Sripadaru on July 19, 2018, the temple administration was with Sri Vishwavallabha Tirtha Sripadaru of Sri Sode Matha.

Eight Mathas in Udupi are paired and each pair is termed as Dwandwa Matha. Shiroor and Sode Matha are Dwandwa Matha. As per the tradition, if any Peetadhipathi dies without appointing his successor, the responsibility of the Matha and appointment of the successor comes to the Peetadhipathi of the Dwandwa Matha.
