Chief of Defence Staff visits Karwar Naval Base
Karwar, April 05, 2021: Chief of Defence Staff General Bipin Rawat accompanied by FOC-in-C (West) Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar visited Karwar Naval base today to review the progress of ongoing work under Project Seabird.
They were received by FOK Real Admiral Mahesh Singh.
During the visit, General Bipin Rawat was briefed on the progress of activities with respect to the development of Project Seabird in Site ‘A’ including the modernization of the Naval Ship Repair Yard (Karwar) and also the capabilities of the Maritime Operations Center (MOC) and COMNETCEN (Kar).
He was taken around the Naval Base where he received on-site briefings and reviewed the ongoing marine works including capability demonstration at the Shiplift facility.

The visit also included a tour of the Naval Harbour towards assessment of marine works/infrastructure being developed as part of Project Seabird Phase II-A.
Later during the day, the CDS interacted with Officers and Sailors of the Karnataka Naval Area over Barakhana.
