COVID second wave has begun, follow precautions: Dr Sudhakar
State’s positivity rate higher than national rate
Bengaluru, March 27, 2021: Stating that the increase in the number of COVID cases is the indication of second wave beginning, Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar has asked the people to follow necessary precautions.
Speaking to the media he said 8-10 states have recorded more active cases. “There are about 2.84 lakh cases in Maharashtra, 24,000 in Kerala, 22,000 in Punjab and re 19,000 in Karnataka. It is clear that second wave has begun. So if we don’t curb activities the danger is imminent,” he said.
“People should compulsorily wear mask and follow social distancing. The state’s positivity rate of 1.6% which is more than national average. This is not a good sign,” he said asking people to take this seriously.
“COVID containment restrictions are already in place. More stringent actions will be taken in coming days. CM has been requested to take necessary measures to prevent spread of infection in school and educational institutions. He will take action in this regard, Dr Sudhakar added.
