Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar visits Karwar Naval Base
Karwar, March 15, 2021: Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Western Naval Command was on a two day visit to Karwar Naval Base on March 13 and 14.
Karwar, March 15, 2021: Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief (FOC-in-C), Western Naval Command visited Karwar Naval Base on March 13 and 14 upon assuming office.
On arrival, the Flag Officer was received by FOK Real Admiral Mahesh Singh and presented with Guard of Honour.
During the visit, he reviewed the operational preparedness of Ships and Units at the Karnataka Naval Area and was briefed on the progress of infrastructure development through Project Seabird Phase II-A.
The FOC-in-C also interacted with the Officers, Sailors, DSC jawans, and Civilian staff of the Karnataka Naval Area.
Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar took over as the Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Western Naval Command on Feb 28. The Flag Officer held the appointment of CISC/ Vice Chief of Defence Staff at Headquarters, Integrated Defence Staff before taking over as FOC-in-C (West).
Vice Admiral R Hari Kumar, an alumnus of the National Defence Academy was commissioned into the Indian Navy on Jan 1, 1983.
He has specialized in Gunnery and commanded five ships including a Destroyer and the Aircraft Carrier INS Viraat. He has held important staff appointments both ashore and afloat and has also been the Naval Advisor to the Government of Seychelles.
On promotion to flag rank, he has held the appointments of Commandant of Naval War College at Goa, Flag Officer Sea Training, Flag Officer Commanding Western Fleet, Chief of Staff at Western Naval Command, Controller Personnel Services, and Chief of Personnel at Naval Headquarters. The Flag Officer held the appointment of CISC/ Vice Chief of Defence Staff at Headquarters Integrated Defence Staff before taking over as FOC-in-C Western Naval Command.
