Truck driver changing flat tire, hit and killed by a bike
Udupi, Dec 26, 2020: He had got down from the truck and was helping the driver in changing the tire when he was killed by a speeding bike near Dandateertha in Udupi district.
Sajith and Nisad, were the two drivers of the truck carrying fish from Mumbai to Kerala. When they reached Dandateertha near Kaup they found that the rear left tire was punctured.
They switched on the indicator and decided to repair the truck. Both got down from the truck. Sajith went to remove the tire and Nisad who was standing on the side was helping him with the light.
At around 12.30 am, one Prajwal who was allegedly driving a bike in a rash and negligent manner suddenly came and hit Nisad. Nisad fell on the road with serious injuries. He was immediately rushed to a hospital. At 5.30 pm doctors declared him dead.
The bike rider Prajwal too sustained injuries and is under treatment.
A case under IPC Section 279 (Rash driving), 338 (Causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) and 304 (A) (Causing death by negligence) has been registered at Kaup police station.
