Bannanje Govindacharya no more
Udupi, Dec 13, 2020: Vidyavachaspati Bannanje Govindacharya died at his house in Ambalpady on Sunday. He was 85.
Bannanje Govindacharya, a well-known orator, is a scholar in Hindu scripts and has written commentaries on Mahabharata, Puranas, Ramayana, Veda, and Upanishads.
Born on August 3, 1936, Govindacharya, who had served as a journalist and worked for Udayavani. He has a great fan following in India and abroad. He has authored over 100 books. In 2009 he was honored with Padma Sri.
Hundreds of people used to queue to listen to his ‘Pravachana,’ which he continued till his death.
Bannanje’s younger son Vijayabhushana Acharya had died two days ago. Vijayabhushana’s 12th day rigutals were being held at the house today when Bannanje died at 11.15 am.
Bannanje Govindacharya is survived by four daughters and a son.
