‘Provide ₹ 25 lakh compensation to family members of Mangaluru boat tragedy victims’
Mangaluru, Dec 03, 2020: Dakshina Kannada unit of Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) has asked the state government to provide a compensation of ₹25 lakh each to the family members of the Mangaluru boat tragedy victims.
“Fishermen who venture into the sea are always at risk. Most of those who are involved in deep-sea fishing are from poor families. They are the breadwinners of the family but there is no security for their life,” DYFI district secretary Santhosh Bajal stated.

“All the six victims are from very poor families and the respective families depended on their income. The government must provide the necessary help to them. Fishing is one of the major income-generating business for the government, and so the government has to provide proper compensation. We demand ₹25 lakh each to the family members of the victims,” he demanded.
