Court sentences seven-year RI for sexual harassment accused
Mangaluru, Sept 28: Finding a person guilty of sexual harassment and robbery, the 6th Additional District and Sessions Court today sentenced seven years of rigorous imprisonment.
The incident took place during the early hours on December 5, 2017. Nagesh had allegedly entered the ladies hostel of a medical college in the outskirts of the City.
He stole a mobile phone from an MBBS student on the third floor and then entered the room of another student on the second floor. He sexually harassed her and took Rs 3,000 and ATMs.
The girl had filed a complaint based on which the police had started an investigation.
Meanwhile, the thief had drawn ₹ 7,500 from two ATMs in Mangaluru and ₹ 200 from KR Nagar.
Within a week, on December 10, the police arrested Nagash. The then DCP (Crime) Uma Prashanth had filed the charge sheet.
Public prosecutor Jayaram Shetty examined 25 witnesses.
Judge asked the District Legal Services Authority to ensure compensation to the victim.
