Karkala, Sep 21: Following landslides, the Udupi Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has banned the movement of all types on NH 169 at Mala Ghat for two days.
Mala Ghat situated between Bajagoli and SK Border connects Udupi and Chikkamagaluru district and comes under Kudremukh National Park (KNP). The heavy rain has resulted in a landslide. In several places, the uprooted trees are on the road.
On Sunday, a tree fell on a vehicle moving in this route. However, there was no casualty.
As rain continues in this section and also as it will take some time for the officials to clear the debris, the district administration has banned the movement of all vehicles for two days under Section 35 of the Disaster Management Act.
As a precautionary measure, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has banned the movement on this stretch on September 21 and 22.
