It’s red alert in Coastal Karnataka

Mangaluru, Sep 19: You may have to change your weekend plans with India Meteorological Department (IMD) issuing a red alert with a forecast of extremely heavy rain in coastal Karnataka for three days from Saturday.

According to the 1 pm bulletin of the IMD, the coastal districts of Uttara Kannada, Udupi, and Dakshina Kannada districts are likely to witness very heavy to extremely heavy (more than 204.5 mm) rain till September 20 morning.

Warning for fishermen:
Strong wind with speed reaching 45-55 kmph is likely to prevail
along & off Karnataka Coast.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into these areas.
