It’s yellow alert in Coastal Karnataka
Udupi, Sep 06: Coastal Karnataka districts are likely to receive widespread rainfall for the next four days.
According to India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts. The districts are likely to receive isolated heavy rainfall till September 10.
Fishermen warning:
It is forecasted that the sea will be rough near shore and the low lying areas (Udupi, Murudeshwar, Gokarna, Mashem) may experience surge (gushing of seawater into these areas intermittently during 11.30 am of Sep 7 to 11.30 pm of Sep 9 due to the effect of the high period swell wave, having 1.8 to 2.6 m height).
Squally weather with wind speed reaching 45-55 kmph is likely to prevail along and off Karnataka coast.
Fishermen are advised not to venture into the sea.
