Indian Navy helps district administration in recovering dead body from Kurumgad islands
Karwar, July 09: The Indian Navy diving team helped the district administration in recovering a dead body from the rocky shores of Kurumgad Island in Karwar.
An employee of a private resort had slipped and drowned in the sea. As it was difficult to recover the body, the district administration took the help of the Navy. Based on a request from the Uttara Kannada District Administration, Indian Naval Ship Koswari with the diving team onboard was deployed to recover the dead body from the rocky shores of Kurumgad Island on Wednesday.
But it was not an easy task. The body was stuck between rocks and was inaccessible from the island and the rough seas precluded deployment of any other boat. The Indian Navy’s rescue team approached the location by a boat launched from the ship and the divers went through the rocky terrain to reach the body. Then they swam back with the body before shifting it onboard the ship.
The ship returned to harbor after sunset and the body of the deceased was handed over to the district authorities for further formalities.
