Of the seven positive, three are the primary contacts of P-659 and four are her secondary contacts.

Karwar: The coastal town of Bhatkal recorded seven new cases on  Sunday increasing the total number in the last three days to 27. With this, the total number of active cases in Uttara Kannada now stands at 28.

An 18-year-old girl P-659 tested positive on May 5. On Friday, 12 including her family members, neighbor, and a friend tested positive. The contacts of all the patients were sent for testing following which 8 tested positive on Saturday.

Now on Sunday seven more were found positive. All these are the contacts of P-659.

Of the seven positive, three (P-799, P-800, and P-801) are the primary contacts of P-659 and four (P-797. P-798, P-802, and P-803) are her secondary contacts.

All the patients will be treated at the COVID ward in Karwar Medical College premises.

The samples of all the contacts of the patients are being collected and tested to check if the virus has spread further.

Lockdown has been strengthened in Bhatkal as the town has now recorded 28 active cases.
