Mangaluru: At a time when there has been opposition to the cremation of COVID-19 victims in Mangaluru city, the managing committee of Katipalla crematorium has come forward to allow the last right of such patients at their place.

Residents had opposed and protested the cremation of P-432 on Thursday night at Pachhanady crematorium. The cremation was also opposed in other places and finally, the body was taken to Bantwal.
This opposition had come under severe criticism from activists and progressive thinkers.

On Saturday, the Hindu Rudrabhumi Navikarana Mattu Abhivridhi Samithi, Katipalla, Ganeshapura wrote a letter to Dakshina Kannada District Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh.

“It is sad that there has been opposition to the cremation of the COVID-19 victims in some parts. Considering this, we have decided to provide the crematorium at Katipalla maintained by Mangaluru City Corporation and managed by us for the cremation of COVID victims,” Convener Mr. A M Mohan stated in the letter.

He has said that the committee will also provide all the materials needed for the last rights.
