Karwar, March 28: Indian Naval Hospital Ship Patanjali at Karwar has become the first armed forces hospital to be treating civilian COVID-19 positive patients.
Based on a request from the State Government of Karnataka, Indian Naval Hospital Patanjali has been prepared for the treatment of COVID-19 patients. These patients are being brought in from the nearby town of Bhatkal where six positive cases have been reported thus far. 
A press statement from the Navy stated that the isolated COVID-19 Treatment Area at the hospital is in adherence to medical safety norms with independent medical, paramedical and nursing staff providing continuous treatment whilst residing inside the hospital premises. 
Approved disposal procedure in conjunction with the District administration has been set up for safe disposal of bio-medical waste generated.
