Udupi, Nov 07, 2021: The Anganwadi centers have been decorated with balloons and flowers. They are all set to welcome the children after a gap of about one and a half years.

Following Covid, the government had decided to shut all the educational institutions. With the number of cases decreasing, the government is now opening schools in stages. After Higher education institutions, Colleges, High Schools, and Primary Schools, the government has now decided to open the Anganwadi centers.

Officials have assured taking all the safety measures before starting the Anganwadis.

In Udupi district, the 1,191 Angwadis in Udupi, Brahmavar, Kundapura, and Karakala have been sanitized. The rooms, doors, windows, and toilets have been cleaned. The desk, chairs, toys have been cleaned along with the utensils of mid-day meals.

Officials have ensured all the Anganwadi workers and helpers have been vaccinated with both doses.

Seating arrangements also have been given importance. The children are made to maintain a distance of 1 meter in the classroom.

Initially, the classes will be open from 10 am to 12 noon. The nutrient food will be sent home. However, after reviewing the situation after 15 days, food will be provided at the Anganwadi center.

Face masks, head cap and apron have been made compulsory for those who prepare food at these centers.
