 Railways keeps LMO flowing in to Karnataka as 17th O2 Express reaches ICD

Indian Railways endeavour to keep precious liquid medical oxygen (LMO) flowing to states, including Karnataka continued when the 17th Oxygen Express reached ICD Whitefield at 1.10am on May 29. This special train had departed from Kanalus, Jamnagar in Gujarat at 6.15pm on May 27 with a load of 111.98 tonnes of LMO in six cryogenic containers. A green corridor created by the respective zonal railways at the direction of the ministry of railways helped the movement of this train.

Thus far, Karnataka has received 2006.69 tonnes of LMO by rail. Indian Railways has so far run 289 oxygen expresses and transported more than 19,408 tonnes of LMO in 1162 tankers all over the country to assist state governments in their fight against Covid-19. Indian Railways in dispatching life-saving LMO to various states based on their requirement after sourcing it from states that produce it. The states demanding LMO arrange for the special cryogenic containers for transportation.
