Mangaluru's first CNG station commissioned

Mangaluru, Feb 16, 2021: The Netravathi Service Station of the Indian Oil Corporation Ltd (IOCL) has become the first Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station in the region.

The first CNG station in the Coastal belt has been commissioned within one and half months after Prime Minister Narendra Modi dedicated the Kochi-Mangaluru gas pipeline.

Modi had dedicated this line to the nation on January 5, 2021.

The station at Adyar on NH 75 gets gas from GAIL Gas Ltd, a subsidiary of GAIL India Ltd. The GAIL Gas Ltd is into City Gas Distribution Project in Dakshina Kannada District.
The price of CNG was 55/kg today.

A CNG kit fitting agency is operational at Surathkal and a few more are likely to come up shortly.

Kapil Kumar Jain, Chief General Manager (City Gas Distribution- Projects), GAIL Gas Ltd, and Vilin Zunke, General Manager, City Gas Distribution – Projects, said the district will have a total of 12 CNG station by March-end. Of these, the CNG stations at Haleyangady, Kulur, Kavoor, Mulky, and Hosabettu will be operational by February end. CNG stations will come up in Bikarnakatta, KPT, Kadri, Mudipu, Boliyar, and Belthangdy.
